Location: Las Cruces, NM | Type: Contract (Non-Travel) | Start: ASAP | Duration: 9 weeks | Schedule: 06:00 AM–06:30 PM | Rate: Local: $1,051/36-hours

Requirements:

  • Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) state license
  • BLS certification

Overview:
Provide direct patient care under RN or physician supervision in a fast-paced clinical setting. Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing interventions, document accurately, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support positive patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform head-to-toe assessments, obtain medical histories, and contribute to individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments according to orders and facility protocols; monitor for effects and document appropriately.
  • Provide wound care, dressings, and monitor for signs of infection or complications.
  • Monitor and record vital signs and changes in patient condition; maintain thorough, timely documentation.
  • Start, monitor, and manage IVs and IV medications when authorized; care for urinary catheters and monitor for complications.
  • Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for lab testing and ensure proper handling.
  • Assist with patient mobility, positioning, comfort measures, and basic pain management.
  • Educate patients and families on conditions, medications, and self-care to promote recovery and prevention.
  • Respond to emergencies following facility protocols and provide basic life support as needed.
  • Follow strict infection control practices, safe medication handling, and proper disposal of medical waste.
  • Advocate for patient rights and coordinate with RNs, physicians, therapists, CNAs, and support staff to ensure cohesive care.
  • Supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned.
  • Maintain professional development by staying current with nursing best practices and facility policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
