Locum Pediatric Nephrologist – Inpatient/Outpatient (Philadelphia) — Flexible Weeks, Travel & Lodging Covered

Join a Philadelphia-based team providing inpatient and outpatient pediatric nephrology care on a locum tenens basis. This supplemental clinical position supports newborn-to-adolescent patients at a Level I trauma center with 189 beds and a 5-bed outpatient unit. Typical patient volume is 5–7 clinic visits per day, with variable inpatient census. Responsibilities include direct patient care and beeper call coverage with a 15-minute response expectation.

Schedule and Coverage

• Coverage: June 8, 2024 – ongoing
• Clinical + call: Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM (1–2 weeks/month)
• Call: Nights and weekends, 7:00 AM–7:00 AM
• Call type: Beeper

Clinical Scope and Procedures

• Patient population: Newborns through pediatrics
• Typical practice mix: ~70% inpatient, ~30% outpatient (may vary)
• Typical patient encounters: 0–5 admissions/day; 0–5 phone consults/day
• Procedures: hemodialysis, neonatal and pediatric intubation (ETT/NT), EEG interpretation at Reading Hospital

Support and Systems

• Support staff: 1 APP, 1 RN, 3 MAs, 1 office staff
• EMR: Epic
• Travel, lodging, and and malpractice insurance provided

Requirements

• Active PA medical license or participation in the IMLC
• BC/BE in Pediatric Nephrology
• PALS certification
