This role supports students’ health needs by delivering direct nursing care, administering medications and treatments, coordinating with families and healthcare providers, and maintaining accurate health documentation to ensure student safety and continuity of care during the school day.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; Bachelor of Nursing preferred
• Active Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Valid CPR certification
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience (3 years preferred)
• Must live within a 45-minute commute of the district for timely on-site coverage
• In-person presence required; no remote work

Core Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care per individual health plans, including assessment, first aid, and emergency response
• Administer scheduled and PRN medications and prescribed nursing procedures
• Communicate with parents/guardians when additional medical evaluation or care is needed
• Maintain timely, accurate health records and documentation
• Serve as a liaison among school staff, families, physicians, and community health providers
• Educate school personnel on student-specific health procedures and general health topics
• Coordinate emergency response procedures when necessary
• Maintain clinic equipment and ensure adequate medical supplies
• Assist with Medicaid billing documentation for nursing services when applicable
• Participate in required professional development and district meetings
• Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
