Locum Tenens APP – General Surgery (PA/NP) | Potsdam, NY | Aug 6–28, 2026 (Inpatient/Outpatient)

We’re seeking experienced APPs to support the General Surgery service in Potsdam, NY for locum tenens coverage. This role combines inpatient and outpatient care, clinical shifts with call responsibilities, and the chance for ongoing coverage through the end of the year.

Schedule & Coverage

• Coverage period: August 6–28, 2026 (potential extension through year-end)
  • Confirmed blocks: Aug 6–8 (3x12s) and Aug 21–28 (flexible options)
• Clinical shift options: Day shifts 7:00 AM–5:00 PM (10-hour shifts); flexible scheduling available (3x12s, 4x10s, or 5x8s)
• On-call: Weeknights 5:00 PM–7:00 AM and weekend call Fri 5:00 PM–Mon 7:00 AM
• Call type: Beeper; response time within 20 minutes (must remain local)

Patient Population & Workload

• Adult patients across general surgery, OB/GYN, and orthopedics
• Typical patient ratio: 1:10–15
• Admissions, rounding (including weekends 8:00 AM–12:00 PM), and phone consults expected

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide first assist support in the OR
• Suturing, stapling, wound closure, hemostasis, suction/drainage/irrigation, patient positioning and intraoperative assistance
• Manage medical-surgical floor duties: rounding, documentation, orders, consults, and discharges
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to maintain high-quality patient care

Facility & Support

• Department beds: 109
• EMR: Epic (experience required)
• Equipment/support: Pyxis, NP/LPN support, anesthesia team, and specialty backup from surgery and anesthesia
• Reason for coverage: supplemental staffing

Credentials & Experience

• Active NY license required (in hand)
• Board certified NP or PA
• Minimum 2 years recent surgical setting experience
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, ATLS
• Strong communication skills and Epic proficiency required
• Hospital privileges required
