Looking for a General Surgeon to provide locum tenens coverage in Pendleton, Oregon. This role blends inpatient and outpatient care, including hospital call and clinic shifts, and starts Mar 23, 2026 with ongoing coverage. Schedule and Coverage

• Coverage period: Mar 23, 2026 – ongoing (may consider May/June starts if Oregon license is already in process)
• Typical work pattern: Monday–Thursday, approximately 20 days per month
  • Mon–Thu: 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
  • Tue/Thu alternative: 7:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
  • Wed: 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
• Call: weekend 24-hour call blocks (Fri 7:30 a.m. – Mon 5:30 a.m.) with operative responsibilities in the OR
• Specific shifts to fill (examples): clinical and clinical+call blocks across Mar–Jun (detailed dates provided in original posting)

Clinical Expectations and Volume

• Service setting: inpatient and outpatient
• Patient volume: ~14–16 clinic patients per day
• Surgical volume: ~500 cases/year (~10 per week)
• Admissions: ~2 inpatient admissions per week
• Support: full hospital support staff; clinic support includes medical assistants and RNs as needed
• EMR systems: Meditech (inpatient), eClinicalWorks (outpatient)

Procedures and Duties

• Must be comfortable responding to ED traumas and taking hospital call
• Clinic work is required in addition to hospital responsibilities
• Common procedures performed: diagnostic and screening colonoscopies, diagnostic EGD, cholecystectomy, hernia repairs with mesh, appendectomy, skin excisions, hemorrhoidectomy, excision of breast lesions, abdominal wall repair with synthetic substitute

Requirements

• Board certified
• Active Oregon license or in-process (candidates with an OR license already in process may be considered for May/June start)
• DEA, BLS, ACLS
• Fellowship training
• Recent self-query NPDB report (within last 30 days)
