Locum tenens opportunity in Oklahoma City, OK for an Interventional Radiologist to provide long-term inpatient coverage with clinical duties and rotating call. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with rotating call roughly 1:45 (phone/pager). Weekday call runs 4:30 p.m.–8:00 a.m.; weekends and holidays are 24-hour coverage. Expected phone response time is 15 minutes and onsite response within 60 minutes. Ongoing coverage with potential for a long-term assignment.
Patient population: adult inpatients. Responsibilities include rounding, phone consults, and performing a broad mix of interventional procedures spanning vascular, venous, hepatobiliary, thoracic, image-guided biopsies/drainages, tumor ablation (RFA, cryo, microwave), musculoskeletal interventions (lumbar puncture, joint injections) and management of dialysis access. Moderate sedation procedures are included. Callback rate historically ~3%.
Facility & support: EMR: CPRS. Imaging/angiography suites include Siemens Artis Pheno and Philips Allura Xper SD. Support team consists of three nurses, five radiology technologists, and an Interventional Radiology Service Chief. This coverage is supplemental; temporary hospital privileges available.
Required qualifications: active unrestricted U.S. medical license, ABR board certification in Interventional Radiology, DEA registration, BLS and ACLS certification, fellowship training in IR, and an NPI number. No history of licensure restrictions or disciplinary actions.
Privileges/compliance: hospital privileges required; temporary privileges can be arranged. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are provided.
Core duties:
- Perform comprehensive interventional radiology procedures, including arterial (diagnostic and interventional: PTA, stent, thrombolysis, embolization, TACE), venous (TIPS, stenting, thrombectomy, filter placement), venous access (tunneled/non-tunneled catheters, ports), hepatobiliary (biliary drainage, cholecystostomy, stenting), thoracic (chest tube placement, pleurodesis), and image-guided interventions.
- Provide inpatient consults, procedural care, and timely documentation.
- Participate in the call rotation and respond promptly to emergent cases.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and follow facility protocols.
