RN House Supervisor (Contract) — Arcata, CA — 12-Hour Days

Join a contracted travel assignment in Arcata, CA, providing clinical leadership as the on-shift nursing supervisor. This position begins ASAP, follows a 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m. schedule, and pays $2,182 per 36-hour week.

Required qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of practice
• 2–3+ years acute care nursing experience; supervisory or charge nurse experience strongly preferred
• BLS and ACLS required; additional facility-specific certifications may be required
• Strong clinical assessment, communication, and leadership skills
• Demonstrated ability to make rapid decisions, manage crises, and prioritize multiple demands
• Experience with patient flow and hospital operations preferred

Core responsibilities

• Provide leadership and clinical oversight for nursing staff across units during the shift
• Coordinate patient flow (admissions, transfers, discharges) to optimize bed utilization and staffing
• Act as administrator-on-duty: address operational issues, staff concerns, and patient/family needs
• Lead responses to emergencies, rapid responses, and critical events, offering direction and support
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols
• Assess staffing needs and reassign personnel to maintain safe patient ratios
• Support teams with problem-solving, conflict resolution, and escalation management
• Document incidents, staffing decisions, and operational concerns and communicate them to leadership
• Foster a collaborative, efficient, and patient-centered work environment
