Contract/Travel position in Albuquerque, NM — Start: ASAP — Duration: 13 weeks — Schedule: 06:30 AM–07:00 PM — Travel rate: $1,523/36 hours
Requirements
- Current, active LPN license for the state of New Mexico
- BLS certification
Overview
Provide skilled, patient-centered nursing care under RN or physician supervision in a fast-paced clinical setting. Apply clinical judgment, strong documentation, and effective communication to support positive patient outcomes.
Core responsibilities
- Deliver direct nursing care including medication administration, wound care, IV therapy, catheter care, and vital-sign monitoring.
- Perform focused patient assessments (history, physical findings, medication review) and contribute to individualized care plans.
- Administer prescribed treatments and medications accurately, following protocols and safety checks.
- Assess, cleanse, dress, and monitor wounds and surgical sites for signs of infection or complications.
- Obtain and process specimens (blood, urine, sputum) per facility procedures.
- Maintain timely, accurate documentation of patient status, interventions, and responses to care.
- Provide patient and family education on diagnoses, medications, self-care, preventive measures, and discharge instructions.
- Assist with positioning, mobility, comfort measures, pain management, and activities of daily living.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, providing basic life support and following established policies.
- Follow infection control standards, PPE requirements, and safe handling/storage/disposal of medications and supplies.
- Collaborate with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate care and advocate for patient needs.
- May supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel as assigned.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and adhere to facility regulations.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
