LPN/LVN - Contract Long Term Care Nurse (Fredericksburg, VA)

We’re looking for a dependable LPN to join a Fredericksburg, VA team on a 9-week, contract (non-travel) assignment starting ASAP. This is a day-shift role (07:00 AM–07:00 PM) with a local pay rate of $1,026 per 36 hours.

What you’ll need

• Active, valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) state license
• BLS certification

What you’ll be doing
You’ll provide hands-on nursing care under RN or physician direction—things like administering medications, performing wound care, taking and documenting vital signs, and completing patient assessments. You’ll develop and follow individualized care plans, monitor patients for changes or complications, and keep thorough, accurate records.

Typical responsibilities include:

• Conducting focused physical assessments, reviewing medical histories and medications, and helping shape care plans
• Administering medications and treatments safely and following protocols
• Evaluating, cleaning, dressing, and monitoring wounds and incisions for infection or complications
• Monitoring and documenting vital signs (BP, pulse, temperature, respirations) consistently
• Educating patients and families about conditions, medications, and self-care
• Starting, monitoring, and maintaining IVs and IV therapy as required
• Caring for patients with urinary catheters, including insertion, maintenance, and complication surveillance
• Collecting specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for lab testing
• Assisting with patient comfort, mobility, positioning, and pain management
• Responding to medical emergencies and providing basic life support per protocol
• Following infection control practices and using PPE appropriately
• Safely handling, storing, and disposing of medications and supplies
• Promoting preventive care (vaccinations, screenings) and supporting health assessments
• Advocating for patients and coordinating with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff for seamless care
• Occasionally supervising CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned
• Participating in ongoing education to stay current with nursing practices and regulations
• Performing other duties as assigned by management
