- Clinical: Mon–Fri, 7:30 AM–5:00 PM
- Weekend call: Sat–Sun, 7:30 AM–7:30 AM (beeper)
- Specific coverage blocks:
- May 11–15, 2026 (day shifts)
- May 18–22, 2026 (day shifts)
- May 9–10, 2026 (24-hour call)
- May 16–17, 2026 (24-hour call)
- May 23–24, 2026 (24-hour call)
Patient population and caseload
- Adults
- Approximately 3,000 surgical cases/year
- Case mix: surgical biopsies, routine surgical specimens, cancer resections, blood smear reviews, routine pathology
- Admissions and phone consults required
Facility and support
- No trauma designation
- EMR: Epic
- Standard pathology lab equipment and lab staff available
- Reason for coverage: PTO
Privileges, credentialing, compliance
- Hospital privileges required
- Credentialing timeline: ~90 days
Compensation and expenses
- $500 flat rate for onboarding modules and Epic personalization
- $150/night stipend for lodging, car rental, or mileage (per facility guidelines)
- Malpractice coverage provided per locum arrangement
Required procedures and duties
- Gross sectioning and examination of pathology specimens
- Surgical pathology sign-out
- Clinical pathology responsibilities, including blood smear review
- Interpret and report anatomic and clinical pathology findings
- Collaborate with clinical teams to support diagnosis and treatment
- Participate in scheduled weekend/24-hour call coverage
Qualifications
- Active SC medical license or FCVS
- Board eligible within 5 years
- Fellowship required
- Training/experience in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology
- Must perform gross pathology
- Epic experience preferred
