Job Description

Adelphi is seeking Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide 1-on-1 school-based nursing support for students with severe disabilities at a school facility in Southeast Missouri. The nurses will deliver care in accordance with each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) and Individual Health Plan (IHP).

  • Active Missouri Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing in accordance with state regulations.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Minimum of 1 year of pediatric, school-based, or developmental disability experience preferred.
  • Must successfully complete:
  • Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) screening
  • FBI fingerprint background check
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills within a multidisciplinary educational team. Responsibilities
  • Provide direct 1:1 nursing care to an assigned student throughout the school day and during transportation to and from home.
  • Deliver medical and nursing services in accordance with the student’s IEP and IHP, supporting educational goals and benchmarks.
  • Ride the school bus with the student to and from home daily and ensure continuity of care throughout the school schedule.
  • Review student records and medical history to understand physical conditions, prior interventions, and care needs.
  • Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and respond to medical needs or emergencies appropriately.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and staff to support the student’s participation and progress.
  • Provide consultation to classroom staff and demonstrate care techniques as needed in alignment with the IEP.
  • Assist with documentation including progress notes, IEP input, and required reporting.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all services in designated systems per program requirements.
  • Attend required orientations, trainings, meetings, and IEP-related activities as requested.
  • Ensure uninterrupted services by coordinating or supporting substitute nurse coverage when necessary.
  • Adhere to all confidentiality standards (HIPAA, FERPA) and mandated reporting requirements.
  • Maintain professional conduct and comply with all state regulations and policies, including abuse prevention and reporting requirements.
  • Perform all duties on-site; remote or telehealth services are not permitted.
