Job Description

Job Summary:

Clinical Practice

o    Providing Cardiology services to patients in the outpatient setting, which may include in-person and virtual medicine efforts within the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine clinic and offsite clinic locations. Clinical duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Chronic disease management
  • Preventive care
  • Acute care visits
  • Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) clinic
  • Medication management

o    Ensure compliance with OSUCHS, state, regulatory, and accrediting bodies, as well as organizational policies and procedures regarding the delivery of health care.

o    Team collaboration with Physicians and medical assistants,

o    Timely and accurate documentation in the EMR system, maintaining chart closure within 3 days of the encounter date of service, use of clinical decision support tools, and participation in quality improvement initiatives

o    Responsible for managing an assigned patient panel, including follow-up care, preventive screenings, and coordination of services.

o    Standard clinic hours of operation are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday-Thursday and 8:00 am-3:00 pm on Friday. However, hours may vary based on departmental coverage needs.

Administrative Responsibilities

o    Dedicated to serving as a student preceptor (Physician Assistants only at this time).

o    Engage in research programs as the opportunity arises.

o    Other duties as assigned by the Chief of Cardiovascular Medicine.  These duties could include, but are not limited to, community engagement, assistance in establishing effective clinical workflow, committee assignments, and engagement in project team meetings.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
    (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

  • NCCPA certification
  • Required ACLS, BLS
  • Current State License with current DEA, OBNDD

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Leadership skills demonstrated by participation in local, regional, or national PA/NP programs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Cardiology preferred
  • Familiarity with the EPIC EMR system
  • Bilingual Skills Preferred
