Franciscan Health Michigan City is seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) to join a high-performing Emergency Department within a modern, patient-centered facility. This is an excellent opportunity for advanced practice providers who thrive in a fast-paced, team-based environment and are committed to delivering high-quality emergency care.
The Emergency Department manages approximately 85 patient encounters per day and operates within a collaborative care model supported by dedicated physician coverage and strong clinical infrastructure.
Emergency Department Highlights
- Annual ED Volume: ~31,000–33,000 visits
- ED Beds: 23
- Coverage Model:36 hours/day physician coverage
- 24 hours/day NP/PA coverage
- APP Shifts:6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- 2:00 PM – 2:00 AM (subject to change)
- EMR: Epic
- Facility: Opened in 2018 with modern layout and advanced technology

Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including history, physical exams, and diagnostic evaluation
- Diagnose and manage a broad range of acute and emergent conditions
- Perform procedures within scope of practice
- Collaborate closely with supervising physicians and interdisciplinary care teams
- Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently in Epic EMR
- Support patient throughput and operational efficiency in a high-volume Emergency Department
- Adhere to clinical protocols, regulatory standards, and quality initiatives
Candidate Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- NCCPA certification required
- Active or eligible Indiana licensure
- ATLS and ACLS certifications required
- Emergency Medicine experience preferred
- Comfortable practicing in a high-volume Emergency Department setting
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and team-oriented mindset
