Franciscan Health Michigan City is seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) to join a high-performing Emergency Department within a modern, patient-centered facility. The Emergency Department manages approximately 85 patient encounters per day and operates within a collaborative care model supported by dedicated physician coverage and strong clinical infrastructure.

• Annual ED Volume: ~31,000–33,000 visits
• ED Beds: 23
  • Coverage Model:36 hours/day physician coverage
  • 24 hours/day NP/PA coverage
  • APP Shifts:6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • 2:00 PM – 2:00 AM (subject to change)
• EMR: Epic

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including history, physical exams, and diagnostic evaluation
• Diagnose and manage a broad range of acute and emergent conditions
• Perform procedures within scope of practice
• Collaborate closely with supervising physicians and interdisciplinary care teams
• Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently in Epic EMR
• Support patient throughput and operational efficiency in a high-volume Emergency Department
• Adhere to clinical protocols, regulatory standards, and quality initiatives

Candidate Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
• NCCPA certification required
• Active or eligible Indiana licensure
• ATLS and ACLS certifications required
• Emergency Medicine experience preferred
• Comfortable practicing in a high-volume Emergency Department setting
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and team-oriented mindset
