Minimum Requirements
- Active, valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) state license
- Current BLS certification
Core Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care under RN/physician guidance: medication administration, wound care, vital signs, basic assessments.
- Perform focused patient assessments (physical exam, history, medication review) and implement individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments accurately per orders and protocols; monitor for adverse reactions.
- Manage wounds/incisions: evaluate, clean, dress, and monitor for infection or complications.
- Monitor and document vital signs and changes in patient condition; maintain accurate patient records.
- Insert, monitor, and manage IV lines and IV medications/fluids as permitted by state scope of practice.
- Care for urinary catheters: insertion, maintenance, monitoring for complications.
- Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for lab testing.
- Educate patients and families on conditions, medications, self-care, and preventive health measures.
- Promote patient comfort and safety: positioning, mobility assistance, pain management.
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide basic life support as needed.
- Follow infection control standards and proper use of PPE.
- Handle, store, and dispose of medications and supplies according to regulations.
- Collaborate with RNs, physicians, therapists, CNAs/UAPs, and support staff to coordinate care.
- Supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned.
- Advocate for patient rights and ensure appropriate care delivery.
- Maintain professional competence through ongoing education and training.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
