RN Assistant Unit Manager — Pre-Op/PACU (Contract, Greenbrae/Kentfield, CA)

Overview:
Seeking an experienced RN to function as Assistant Unit Manager for Pre-Op/PACU. This role supports daily unit operations, coordinates patient flow and staffing, provides direct patient care as needed, and serves as a clinical resource to staff and the interdisciplinary team.

Required qualifications:

• Active RN license (California)
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred)
• BLS and ACLS certifications
• Prior Pre-Op and/or PACU experience required
• Prior leadership or charge nurse experience preferred
• Strong clinical judgment, leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Key responsibilities:

• Support the Unit Manager in day-to-day Pre-Op and PACU operations
• Coordinate staffing and assignments to maintain safe patient-to-nurse ratios
• Oversee patient flow from preoperative holding through PACU recovery and discharge
• Provide direct patient care and intervene for complex or unstable patients as needed
• Monitor patient safety, post-anesthesia recovery, pain management, and vital signs
• Ensure compliance with clinical policies, accreditation, and regulatory requirements
• Serve as a clinical resource and mentor; facilitate staff education and competency assessments
• Assist with staff performance evaluations and performance improvement initiatives
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia, and other interdisciplinary team members

Travel/contract expectations:

• Immediate availability preferred
• Must be able to work the listed schedule and fulfill contract requirements
