Rate: Local: $1,001/36 hours
Overview:
Join a clinical team delivering hands-on nursing care in Waterville. As an LPN, you will provide direct patient care under RN or physician guidance, support interdisciplinary coordination, and promote patient safety and education.
Required Qualifications:
- Active, valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) state license
- BLS certification
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care including medication administration, wound care, IV therapy, catheter care, and monitoring of vital signs.
- Perform focused patient assessments (physical exam, history, medication review) to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately, following protocols and documenting appropriately.
- Assess, clean, dress, and monitor wounds for signs of infection or complications.
- Insert, monitor, and maintain IV lines; administer and observe IV medications/fluids per facility policy.
- Manage urinary catheters—insert when authorized, perform routine care, and monitor for issues.
- Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for laboratory testing and ensure proper labeling and handling.
- Maintain thorough, accurate patient records, charting changes in condition, treatments, and medication administration.
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, self-care, and preventive health measures.
- Support patient comfort and safety (positioning, mobility assistance, pain management).
- Respond to emergencies, provide basic life support, and follow established emergency protocols.
- Follow strict infection control practices, including hand hygiene and PPE use.
- Safely handle, store, and dispose of medications and medical supplies per regulations.
- Collaborate with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff to ensure coordinated care.
- Advocate for patient rights and needs within the care team.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to maintain current clinical knowledge and skills.
- Supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned to ensure quality care.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
