Contract Licensed Practical Nurse — Camden, ME (13 weeks)
Start: ASAP | Schedule: 06:45 AM–07:15 PM | Rate: $932 / 36 hours

Overview
Provide skilled, patient-centered nursing care in a contract, non-travel role. Deliver direct care under the supervision of RNs or physicians, contributing to comprehensive treatment plans and patient education while maintaining accurate documentation and adhering to facility policies and regulatory standards.

Required Credentials

  • Active, unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license for the state of Maine
  • BLS certification

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care, including medication administration, wound care, IV therapy, urinary catheter care, and monitoring of vital signs.
  • Perform focused patient assessments (physical exam, medical history, medication review) to assist in developing and updating individualized care plans.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately, following protocols and documenting administration.
  • Assess, clean, dress, and monitor wounds and surgical sites for signs of infection or complications.
  • Insert, maintain, and monitor IV lines and IV medications/fluids as appropriate to scope of practice.
  • Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for laboratory testing and ensure proper handling and labeling.
  • Maintain precise, timely patient records, documenting condition changes, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, self-care, and preventive health measures.
  • Assist with patient comfort and safety needs, including positioning, mobility, and pain management.
  • Respond to medical emergencies promptly, providing basic life support and following emergency protocols.
  • Follow infection control practices and PPE requirements; handle, store, and dispose of medications and supplies safely and in compliance with regulations.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (RNs, physicians, therapists, CNAs) to coordinate patient care.
  • Advocate for patient rights and needs and support quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
  • Supervise and delegate to CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when required and appropriate.
  • Participate in ongoing education to maintain current clinical knowledge and competency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
