Contract Licensed Practical Nurse needed in Silver City, NM. This is a non-travel, short-term contract starting ASAP for 3 weeks. Schedule: Tuesday–Thursday, 6:00 AM–6:30 PM. Local rate: $1,040/36 hours.

Minimum requirements

  • Current, active Licensed Practical Nurse state license
  • BLS certification

Primary responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care under RN or physician direction, including medication administration, wound care, and vital signs monitoring.
  • Perform patient assessments (physical exam, history, medication review) and contribute to individualized care planning.
  • Administer medications and treatments accurately, following protocols and documenting appropriately.
  • Manage wounds and dressings; monitor for infection and complications.
  • Monitor and record vital signs and changes in patient condition.
  • Maintain clear, timely patient records of assessments, treatments, and responses.
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, self-care, and preventive health measures.
  • Administer and monitor IV fluids and medications; ensure IV sites function properly.
  • Provide catheter care, including insertion, maintenance, and monitoring for issues.
  • Collect and prepare specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for lab analysis.
  • Collaborate with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate care.
  • Assist with patient comfort, mobility, positioning, and pain management.
  • Respond to emergencies following established protocols and provide BLS as needed.
  • Follow infection control standards and proper PPE use.
  • Handle, store, and dispose of medications and supplies per regulations.
  • Advocate for patient rights and needs within the care team.
  • Maintain professional competence through continuing education and training.
  • Supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned.
  • Perform other duties as directed by management.
