Requirements

  • Active, valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) state license.
  • BLS certification.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care under RN or physician direction: medication administration, wound care, vital signs monitoring.
  • Conduct patient assessments (physical exam, medical history, medication review) and contribute to individualized care plans.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately, following protocols.
  • Assess, clean, dress, and monitor wounds/incisions for infection or complications.
  • Monitor and document vital signs (BP, pulse, temperature, respiration) and changes in condition.
  • Maintain accurate patient records of assessments, treatments, and medication administration.
  • Educate patients and families on conditions, medications, self-care, and preventive health measures.
  • Insert, manage, and monitor IV lines and administration of IV medications/fluids as indicated.
  • Provide catheter care (insertion, maintenance, monitoring for complications).
  • Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for laboratory testing.
  • Collaborate with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate patient care.
  • Attend to patient comfort and safety: positioning, mobility assistance, pain management.
  • Respond to medical emergencies per protocol and provide basic life support as needed.
  • Adhere to infection control practices (hand hygiene, PPE) and safe handling/storage/disposal of medications and supplies.
  • Advocate for patients’ rights and needs within the healthcare team.
  • Supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned.
  • Maintain professional development and comply with current nursing standards, policies, and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
