Location: Waterville, ME | Start: ASAP | Duration: 13 weeks | Shift: 6:00 PM–6:30 AM | Rate: Local $1,040/36 hours | Contract/Non-Travel

Requirements:

  • Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) state license
  • BLS certification

Overview:
Provide direct nursing care in collaboration with RNs and physicians, delivering safe, patient-centered treatment across assessments, medication administration, wound care, IV therapy, and documentation while promoting patient education and quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments (physical exams, histories, medication reviews) and contribute to individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments accurately, following protocols and monitoring for effects/side effects.
  • Manage wound care: assess, clean, dress, and monitor for infection or complications.
  • Insert, maintain, and monitor IV lines; administer and observe IV medications and fluids.
  • Care for patients with urinary catheters, including insertion, maintenance, and complication surveillance.
  • Monitor and document vital signs and changes in patient condition; maintain accurate medical records.
  • Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for laboratory testing.
  • Provide patient and family education on diagnoses, medications, self-care, preventive measures, and wellness.
  • Promote patient comfort and safety (positioning, mobility assistance, pain management).
  • Respond to medical emergencies following protocols and deliver basic life support as needed.
  • Adhere to infection control practices, safe handling/storage/disposal of medications and supplies, and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team (RNs, physicians, therapists, support staff) to ensure coordinated care.
  • Advocate for patient rights and needs; supervise CNAs/UAPs when applicable.
  • Maintain professional competency through continuing education and training.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
