We’re looking for a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join the team in Rutland for a 12-week contract. You’ll provide hands-on nursing care in collaboration with RNs, physicians, and the rest of the care team, helping ensure patients receive safe, compassionate, and effective treatment.

What you’ll bring

  • Active, valid LPN license for your state
  • Current BLS certification
  • Strong clinical skills, good judgment, and the ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, and colleagues

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver direct patient care under RN or physician guidance, including medication administration, wound care, and regular monitoring of vitals
  • Complete focused patient assessments—take histories, perform physical checks, and review medications—to help develop individualized care plans
  • Administer medications and treatments accurately, following protocols and charting appropriately
  • Manage wound care: assess, clean, dress, and monitor for signs of infection or complications
  • Routinely monitor and document vital signs (BP, pulse, temperature, respirations) and report changes in condition
  • Maintain concise, accurate patient records of assessments, treatments, and medication administration
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, and self-care strategies to support recovery and wellness
  • Start, monitor, and manage IV lines and IV therapies as appropriate; ensure line integrity and patient safety
  • Provide catheter care—insert when indicated, perform routine maintenance, and watch for complications
  • Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for lab testing and ensure proper labeling and handling
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team—including RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff—to coordinate care
  • Assist with patient comfort and safety: positioning, mobility support, and pain management as needed
  • Respond to emergencies promptly, following protocols and providing basic life support when required
  • Follow strict infection control practices, including hand hygiene and appropriate PPE use
  • Handle, store, and dispose of medications and supplies according to policies and regulations
  • Promote preventive care and wellness activities like vaccinations and screenings
  • Advocate for patients’ needs and rights within the healthcare setting
  • Participate in continuing education to stay current with nursing best practices and regulatory changes
  • Supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when required to ensure quality care
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
