We’re looking for a physician to serve as a clinical consultant for school health services in Austin, Texas. In this part-time role you’ll partner with school health leadership to provide medical oversight, practical guidance, and policy support so students receive safe, compliant, and high-quality care.

What you’ll bring
- MD or DO from an accredited institution
- Active, unrestricted Texas medical license
- Board certification in Pediatrics, Family Medicine, or Adolescent Medicine
- No current disciplinary actions that affect your practice
- Experience with pediatric/adolescent populations and familiarity with school health or public health guidance is preferred
What you’ll do
- Provide clinical oversight and expert consultation for K–12 student health services
- Advise school health staff on managing chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, seizures, and behavioral health concerns
- Interpret and apply public health guidance (for example CDC and AAP recommendations) to school operations and communicable disease responses
- Help develop, review, and approve health policies, protocols, and standing orders to ensure they meet legal and regulatory standards
- Consult on complex student health cases and clarify scope-of-practice questions for school health personnel
- Support emergency preparedness and response planning for events like anaphylaxis, seizures, asthma emergencies, and infectious disease outbreaks
- Work closely with interdisciplinary teams — school nurses, administrators, special education and wellness leaders — to support clinical decision-making
- Advise on risk management, proper documentation, and strategies to reduce liability related to student health services
- Promote population-health approaches and health equity initiatives that benefit the student community
- Help translate complex medical information for staff, students, and families, and be available for timely consultation and scheduled meetings
- Perform other related duties as needed
