Adelphi is looking for a physician to serve as a clinical consultant supporting school-based health services in Houston, Texas. This part-time role partners with school health leadership to provide practical medical guidance, policy support, and clinical oversight so student health services are safe, compliant, and high quality.

What we need from you

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school
  • Active, unrestricted Texas medical license
  • Board certification in Pediatrics, Family Medicine, or Adolescent Medicine
  • No current disciplinary actions affecting practice
  • Experience with pediatric/adolescent populations and familiarity with school health or public health guidance is a plus

What you’ll do

  • Provide clinical oversight and consultative support for K–12 student health services
  • Advise school health staff on management of chronic conditions (asthma, diabetes, seizures, behavioral health)
  • Interpret and apply public health and professional guidance (CDC, AAP) for school operations and communicable disease response
  • Help develop, review, and approve health policies, protocols, and standing orders to ensure legal and regulatory compliance
  • Offer consultation on complex student health cases and clarify scope-of-practice questions for school staff
  • Support emergency preparedness and response planning (anaphylaxis, seizures, asthma events, infectious disease outbreaks)
  • Collaborate with school nurses, administrators, special education teams, and wellness leadership to inform clinical decision-making
  • Provide advice on risk management, documentation, and liability mitigation related to student health services
  • Promote population health strategies and health equity initiatives for student communities
  • Assist in translating complex medical information for staff, students, and families
  • Be available for timely consultation and scheduled meetings; perform other duties as assigned
