Locum Tenens Anesthesiologist (General/Regional) — San Francisco, CA (High-Acuity, Epic)

We’re seeking a skilled anesthesiologist to provide ongoing locum tenens coverage in San Francisco, CA, supporting both hospital and ambulatory surgery center settings. This is a clinical-only role starting June 15, 2026 and continuing for a minimum of 26 weeks; ongoing coverage is expected with a minimum of two weeks per month (full-time preferred).

Schedule and Coverage

• Typical schedule: 4–5 days per week, 8–10 hour shifts with flexible scheduling.
• Coverage model: Ongoing; minimum commitment two weeks per month, full-time preferred.
• Must be able to float between multiple sites as needed.

Patient Population and Case Mix

• Patients: Adolescents (13+) and adults.
• Case types: Primarily general anesthesia with occasional regional procedures. Expect high-acuity inpatient and ambulatory surgical cases. No cardiac, liver, or neuro cases.
• Volume/census: To be determined.

Facility and Support

• Practice environment: High-acuity, tertiary care settings.
• EMR: Epic.
• Equipment: Standard OR equipment available across multiple sites.
• Support: Multidisciplinary OR teams and CRNA support (occasional supervision required).
• Reason for coverage: Supplemental coverage.

Privileges, Credentialing, and Compliance

• Hospital privileges required.
• Credentialing timeline: Approximately 60–90 days.

Compensation and Logistics

• Rate, travel, lodging, and malpractice coverage: To be determined.

Required Skills, Qualifications, and Certifications

• Active California medical license required.
• Active California DEA required.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology.
• Minimum two years recent anesthesiology experience; experience in tertiary care required.
• BLS (AHA) required.
• Comfortable working independently and able to float between sites.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia care in both inpatient and outpatient surgical settings.
• Deliver general anesthesia and regional anesthesia techniques (regional preferred).
• Manage moderate to high-acuity surgical cases.
• Collaborate effectively with CRNAs and surgical teams.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in Epic.
