Locum Tenens Hematology & Oncology Physician — Chambersburg/Waynesboro, PA (Inpatient & Outpatient)

Seeking a fellowship-trained, board-certified/eligible Hematology-Oncology physician to provide supplemental locum tenens clinical coverage in Chambersburg & Waynesboro, PA (inpatient and outpatient). Assignment runs Jun 22, 2026–Mar 31, 2027 and includes clinic shifts and hospital/ED consult coverage with periodic call.

Schedule and Coverage

• Shift: Mon–Fri, 8:00–16:30; full-time preferred or minimum 3 days/week.
• Call: Nights and weekends, approximately one week per month; call volume typically 0–2 events/day (ED or hospital consults).
• Rounding: Yes, about 1–2 hours when required; inpatient consults scheduled before/after clinic.
• Clinic: Average daily patient volume ~15 (≈2 new patients/day; remainder treatments and follow-ups). Case mix ~66% oncology, 33% hematology (lung, breast, prostate, colorectal common; occasional outliers/community referrals). Adult patients only. No inpatient chemotherapy administered; outpatient infusions supported on site.

Clinical Duties and Workflow

• Provide inpatient and ED consultations and guidance for Hem/Onc patients.
• Cover secure hospital chats during clinic hours as needed.
• Clinic appointment lengths: 20 min for pre-treatment and established follow-ups; 40 min for new hematology consults and hospital follow-ups; 60 min for combined Hem/Onc consults.
• Serve as supervising provider for one morning and one afternoon weekly to cover urgent needs for other providers.
• Participate in tumor board. Virtual hematology backup available.

Procedures and Support

• Outpatient infusion and treatment delivered in on-site infusion center (chemotherapy, immunotherapy, IVIG, IV iron, non-chemo injections, transfusions, port labs). Radiation oncology coordinated via navigator.
• Support staff includes one NP; Nuance dictation system. Facility: 274 beds. You will not be the sole on-site provider. Clinic hours are not blocked for hospital rounding.

Logistics and Requirements

• Coverage type: Clinical plus call. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance provided.
• Required: Active PA license or willingness to obtain IMLC, DEA, NPDB self-query within 6 months, fellowship-trained. Board-certified/eligible; candidates with less experience will be considered.
