Locum tenens opportunity in Mountain Home, AR providing weekend pediatric hospitalist call coverage. This is offsite 24-hour call (hotel/home) covering newborn nursery, inpatient pediatrics, and ER consults with a low inpatient census.
Schedule and Coverage
- Coverage period: begins June 5, 2026 – ongoing; ongoing weekend coverage available
- Initial coverage dates: June 5 (noon)–June 8 (7:00 AM) and June 19 (noon)–June 22 (7:00 AM)
- Regular on-call shift: Friday 5:00 PM – Monday 7:00 AM (24-hour offsite call)
- Call frequency: approximately one weekend per month
- Call response time: 30 minutes; callback volume low (2–3 calls/day)
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide weekend pediatric call coverage (offsite)
- Manage newborn nursery (average ~5 babies) and very low-volume inpatient pediatrics (1–2 patients)
- Respond to 2–3 ER consults per day (primarily by phone)
- Perform daily weekend rounds on nursery and inpatient unit
- Stabilize, perform initial procedures, and arrange transfers as needed
- Document care in Cerner EMR
Required Skills and Procedures
- Neonatal resuscitation, intubation, line placement, stabilization for transfer
- Comfortable with neonatal stabilization and emergency pediatric care
Facility and Support
- Hospital: Level III–IV (adult) trauma designation
- EMR: Cerner
- Standard pediatric and neonatal support equipment and hospital staff available
- Reason for coverage: physician leave (surgery)
Credentials and Logistics
- Active Arkansas medical license required (no licensing assistance)
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics; new graduates accepted
- DEA registration required
- Hospital privileges required; temporary/expedited privileges possible (credentialing ~3–4 weeks with a clean file)
