Schedule
- Clinical: Monday–Friday, 8-hour days. Procedures mornings 7:30 AM–12:00 PM; inpatient rounds/coverage afternoons.
- Call: 24-hour inpatient + phone call (Monday 7:00 AM – following Monday 7:00 AM). Approximately 2 weeks/month on call.
- Specific coverage dates:
- July 13 (7:00 AM) – July 18 (7:00 AM)
- August 24 (7:00 AM) – August 29 (7:00 AM)
- August 31 (7:00 AM) – September 7 (7:00 AM)
- December 28 (7:00 AM) – January 4 (7:00 AM)
Patient Population & Clinical Volume
- Adults 18+
- Procedures: ~4–9 per day
- Clinic: scheduled every 40 minutes when applicable
- Admissions, rounding (afternoons and weekends), and phone consults included
- Case mix: general gastroenterology (no ERCP or EUS)
Facility & Support
- Hospital: 132 beds
- EMR: Epic
- Equipment: standard GI procedural equipment
- Support: daytime PA support; anesthesiology onsite; IT and service line support 24/7
- Reason for coverage: supplemental
Privileges & Credentialing
- Hospital privileges required; temporary privileges available with a clean file
- Credentialing timeline: ~90 days
Required Procedures & Duties
- Perform general endoscopy and colonoscopy
- Manage GI consults and inpatient care
- Provide outpatient clinic coverage as needed
- Participate in 24-hour call rotation and round on hospital/ER consults
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team and document in Epic
Qualifications
- PA medical license required or willingness to obtain
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology
- DEA required
- Minimum 1 year of experience
- Comfortable managing combined procedural, clinic, and inpatient workflow
