Minimum Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited ADN or BSN program
- Current, active, unrestricted Virginia RN license (or multistate compact license)
- Current BLS (CPR/AED for Healthcare Providers)
- Minimum 2 years clinical experience; pediatric, school nursing, emergency, or public health preferred
- Demonstrated competency in school-based clinical skills, including:
- Tracheostomy care and suctioning
- Seizure recognition/management
- Gastrostomy (G-tube) care
- Asthma, allergy, and oxygen management
- Diabetes management
- Catheterization and ostomy care
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care per student-specific healthcare plans and clinical guidelines (e.g., trach, seizures, G-tube, diabetes)
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and follow mandated reporting procedures
- Implement and follow district and facility policies and safety protocols
- Collaborate with school administration, teachers, families, and healthcare providers to support student health and safety
- Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice and contract requirements
