Locum Tenens Cardiothoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant — Inpatient Call Coverage (Lexington, KY)

We’re seeking a Cardiac Surgery PA to provide supplemental inpatient coverage in Lexington, KY on a locum tenens basis. Coverage begins May 31, 2026 and is ongoing, with several specific blocks of call coverage already scheduled (see dates below).

Schedule and coverage

• Coverage type: Call-only
• Call blocks: Fri–Mon, 7 a.m.–7 a.m.
• Typical frequency: 1–2 days/week with about one full weekend per month
• Patient volume: Low; typically 1–2 surgeries per day
• Specific shifts to be filled: May 31–Jun 13; Jun 6–8; Jul 20–26

Clinical responsibilities

• Provide OR, telemetry, and ICU coverage as part of the cardiac surgery team
• Perform surgical cardiothoracic procedures including vein harvest and chest tube placement
• First assist on CABG, AVR, MVR, and thoracotomy/lung resection cases
• Participate in patient management across the perioperative period

• EMR: Epic
• Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance will be provided

Required credentials

• Active Kentucky license
• Board certified
• DEA registration
• BLS and ACLS certifications
• NPDB report
