Locum tenens opportunity in Kirksville, MO providing inpatient anesthesia coverage (clinical + call) on an ongoing basis, ASAP start. Schedule: weekdays 6:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m. with 2nd-call/backup responsibilities and a 30-minute call response time. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance provided by the agency. Coverage reason: supplemental.
Practice environment and patients
- Service setting: inpatient; EMR: paper charting.
- Case mix: full orthopedic, complex orthopedic, head & spine, neurosurgery, pediatric, regional, thoracic (non–open heart), OB, and pain management procedures.
- Average daily volume: TBD.
- ACT model: medical direction. Physicians are first call for OR and OB cases; CRNAs do not perform peripheral blocks and rarely perform epidurals.
Clinical responsibilities
- Provide anesthesia services under medical direction and serve as backup call for physician-managed OR and OB cases.
- Deliver general, spinal, and epidural anesthesia; manage regional anesthesia for surgical cases.
- Manage ventilation and acute hemodynamic/volume issues intraoperatively.
- Perform post-op epidurals and extremity blocks, epidural steroid injections (lumbar & cervical), and transforaminal procedures with x‑ray guidance.
- Place central venous lines, arterial lines, and pulmonary artery catheters as needed.
- Collaborate with the perioperative team to maintain patient safety and continuity of care.
Credentials and compliance
- Board status: BC/BE.
- Missouri license required.
- Certifications: ACLS, BNDD; DEA and CSRD credentials required.
