Locums-to-Perm Orthopedic Surgeon (General) — Harlan, KY (Trauma Level III, Fellowship Required)

We’re seeking a board-certified or board-eligible orthopedic surgeon to join a General Orthopedic Surgery opening in Harlan, Kentucky, on a locum-to-perm basis. You’ll provide both inpatient and outpatient care with a mix of clinic, rounding, and beeper call coverage — the assignment starts June 1, 2026 and will continue on an ongoing basis.

What you’ll be doing

• Provide clinical care for an assigned inpatient panel and see outpatient orthopedic patients.
• Participate in beeper call with a 30-minute response time.
• Handle an expected daily patient volume of about 25, plus roughly 3 phone consults.
• Work with a small support team (1 MA and 1 office staff) and take part in trauma Level III services.
• Document care in MediTech; hospital privileges are required.

Logistics and support

• Coverage type: Clinical care plus call.
• Shift/call schedule: To be determined.
• Rounding: Yes — assigned patients.
• The hospital is stroke-certified.
• Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are covered.

Requirements

• Active Kentucky medical license.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery.
• Fellowship training required.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
