Rate: Local: $622 / 16-hour shift

Required credentials

  • Active, valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license for Pennsylvania
  • BLS certification

Core responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care under RN or physician direction: medication administration, wound care, vital signs, and basic treatments.
  • Perform focused patient assessments (physical exam, history, medication review) and contribute to individualized care plans.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately and per protocol; monitor for adverse reactions.
  • Manage wounds/incisions: evaluate, clean, dress, and monitor for infection or complications.
  • Monitor and document vital signs and changes in patient condition; maintain accurate, timely medical records.
  • Start, monitor, and maintain IV therapy and IV lines as allowed by scope of practice; observe for complications.
  • Care for urinary catheters (insertion when applicable per facility policy, routine maintenance, and complication surveillance).
  • Collect and prepare patient specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for laboratory testing.
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, self-care, and prevention measures.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care coordination with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff.
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort: positioning, mobility assistance, pain management, and basic hygiene needs.
  • Respond to emergencies using established protocols and provide basic life support as needed.
  • Follow infection control practices, proper use of PPE, and safe handling/storage/disposal of medications and supplies.
  • Promote preventive care (vaccinations, screenings) and support health assessments.
  • Advocate for patient rights and needs within the care team.
  • Supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned, ensuring care quality.
  • Maintain professional competency through ongoing education and training.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
