We’re looking for an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse to join a healthcare team in Silver City, NM for a 9-week contract starting ASAP. This role follows a night shift schedule (06:00 PM–06:30 AM) and pays $1,145 for 36 hours locally. Required qualifications

  • Valid, active Licensed Practical Nurse state license
  • Current BLS certification

What you’ll do

  • Provide direct nursing care under RN or physician guidance, including medication administration, wound care, and monitoring vital signs.
  • Perform patient assessments (physical exams, histories, medication reviews) and help develop individualized care plans.
  • Administer prescribed meds and treatments accurately, following protocols and documenting thoroughly.
  • Manage wounds and incisions—cleaning, dressing, and monitoring for infection or complications.
  • Monitor and record vital signs consistently and accurately.
  • Educate patients and families about conditions, medications, self-care, and preventive measures.
  • Initiate and monitor IV therapy when required, and care for urinary catheters (insertion, maintenance, and complication monitoring).
  • Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for lab testing and ensure proper handling.
  • Maintain precise patient records, noting condition changes, treatments, and medication administration.
  • Work collaboratively with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff to ensure coordinated care.
  • Assist with patient comfort, positioning, mobility, and pain management.
  • Respond quickly and appropriately during emergencies, delivering basic life support as needed.
  • Follow infection control protocols, using PPE and proper hand hygiene.
  • Handle, store, and dispose of medications and supplies according to regulations.
  • Promote preventive care like vaccinations and screenings, and support health assessments.
  • Advocate for patients’ rights and needs within the care team and healthcare system.
  • Supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned.
  • Participate in continuing education to stay current with best practices and regulatory changes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
