Overview
- Locum tenens NP covering inpatient cardiac surgery ICU and step-down units.
- Coverage period: Jun 1, 2026 – Oct 2, 2026.
- Clinical-only coverage (no administrative duties).
Location & Setting
- Syracuse, NY.
- Inpatient: ICU / Step-Down.
- EMR: Epic.
Patient Population & Volume
- Adult cardiac surgery, critical care and cardiology-focused patients.
- Up to 10 notes/day; phone coverage for all inpatients.
- Rounding included.
Key Duties
- Provide direct inpatient care for cardiac surgery ICU and step-down patients.
- Perform daily rounds and complete documentation in Epic.
- Develop and manage patient care plans in collaboration with supervising physician and critical care team.
- Perform required bedside procedures.
- Provide phone coverage and coordinate care for all inpatients.
Required Procedures (must be competent)
- Central line placement.
- Arterial line placement.
- Chest tube placement and removal.
- Wound VAC changes.
Qualifications
- Active New York state NP license.
- AANP board certification.
- Current ACLS.
- ICU/critical care experience required; cardiac ICU experience preferred.
- No new grads.
- Epic experience required.

- Supervising physician and critical care physician backup available.
- Reason for coverage: supplemental.
- Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance provided.
