Locums Urology Physician — 24‑Hour Call, High‑Volume Inpatient/ED Coverage in Salem, VA

We are seeking an experienced locum urology physician to provide 24-hour hospital and emergency department call coverage in Salem, Virginia. The physician will manage inpatient and ED consults, perform urgent urologic procedures, and respond to callbacks within 20 minutes. Strong clinical judgment, efficient documentation, and effective collaboration with ED physicians, hospitalists, and specialists are essential.

Assignment details

• Schedule: 24-hour call coverage
• Patient volume: ~28 patients per day
• Patient population: Adults
• Call response time: 20 minutes
• EMR: Facility-provided electronic charting/dictation

Key responsibilities

• Provide continuous urology call coverage, including inpatient and ED consults
• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute and urgent urologic conditions
• Perform necessary urologic procedures and interventions
• Coordinate care with ED staff, hospitalists, and consulting specialists
• Document encounters accurately and efficiently in the EMR

Qualifications

• Board certified or board eligible in Urology
• Active, unrestricted Virginia medical license
• DEA registration and Controlled Substance Registration (CSR)
• BCLS, PALS, and ACLS certifications
