Locums Neurosurgeon — High Pay + Travel, Cranial/Spine/Trauma in Rapid City, SD

Join a collaborative neurosurgical team in Rapid City, South Dakota, as a full-time locum physician. This role blends inpatient and outpatient care and offers the chance to manage a wide range of complex cranial, spine, and trauma cases in a supportive surgical environment.

What you’ll do

• Perform neurosurgical procedures across cranial, spine, and trauma cases
• Admit, round on, provide post-operative care, and discharge inpatients
• Run outpatient clinic visits and follow-up appointments
• Respond to emergency department and inpatient neurosurgical consults
• Work closely with neurosurgeons, OR staff, and multidisciplinary hospital teams
• Keep accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record system

Compensation and benefits

• $5,000 per shift
• Above-market hourly rate
• All travel arrangements provided and booked by the group (in addition to per-shift pay)
• Professional liability (med-mal) and tail insurance covered
• Dedicated locum consultant to manage credentialing and scheduling

Requirements

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurosurgery
• Active South Dakota medical license or ability to obtain one
• BLS and ACLS certifications
• Strong clinical skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Prior experience in neurosurgery, trauma, or surgical critical care strongly preferred
