Locum Tenens Pathologist — Hospital-Based GI-Focused Surgical & Cytopathology (Saranac Lake, NY)

We’re seeking a Pathologist for locum tenens coverage at a hospital in Saranac Lake, NY. This is a clinical-only assignment beginning July 2, 2026 and continuing on an ongoing basis. The typical schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

What you’ll be working with

• Adult patient population with case volume that varies by the surgical schedule.
• Predominantly gastrointestinal pathology cases.
• Responsibilities include general surgical pathology, cytopathology, frozen section interpretation, and basic clinical pathology work.
• You’ll review and interpret specimens, analyze frozen sections during surgeries, and collaborate closely with surgical and clinical teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting.

Facility and support

• The hospital uses Meditech as its EMR.
• Standard pathology lab equipment is available.
• You’ll have backup support from another pathologist and outside lab resources.
• A grossing technician is on staff; occasional backup grossing by the locum may be required.

Credentials and requirements

• Active New York medical license is required.
• Board certification in Pathology required.
• Experience with frozen sections is required; FNA capability is preferred but not mandatory.
• Hospital privileges are required for this role.

Compensation and logistics

• Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are provided.
