Locum Tenens Emergency Medicine Physician — 12-hr Shifts, Epic; Travel/Lodging/Malpractice Covered

We’re looking for a locum tenens emergency medicine physician to cover a one-year assignment in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, from October 1, 2026 to October 1, 2027. You’ll be based in a hospital-based critical access ED, working 12-hour shifts (either 8:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. or 8:00 p.m.–8:00 a.m.) and caring for patients of all ages.

What you’ll do

• Provide full coverage of the emergency department, evaluating and treating patients across the acuity spectrum.
• Perform emergency procedures, stabilize critically ill patients, and deliver basic critical care when needed.
• Work closely with ED staff and other providers to coordinate care.
• Keep accurate, timely documentation in Epic.

The clinical setting

• Facility: Critical Access Hospital (no trauma designation)
• ED: 8 beds in the emergency department; hospital has 25 inpatient beds total
• EMR: Epic
• Support: Standard ED equipment and an experienced team of nurses and staff

Logistics & privileges

• Hospital privileges are required; cross-credentialing at an additional site will be part of the process.
• Temporary privileges/credentialing timeline: to be determined.

Compensation & travel

• Pay rate: TBD
• Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance will be provided.

Required qualifications

• Active West Virginia medical license
• Board certified in Emergency Medicine (ABEM)
• DEA registration
• Prior emergency medicine experience, including comfort working in a critical access setting

Patient population & case mix

• Care for patients of all ages with common emergency presentations
• Manage admissions from the ED as part of patient care
