Locum Tenens Neurosurgeon — Level I Trauma, Colorado Springs (Call-Only, Travel/Lodging Covered)

We’re seeking a locum tenens neurosurgeon to provide inpatient, call-only coverage at a Level I trauma center in Colorado Springs, CO. This role is supplemental coverage on a 24-hour call schedule, covering weekends from Friday 7:00 AM through Monday 7:00 AM, with an ASAP start and ongoing availability preferred. Patients are adult and adolescent (17+), and the annual ER volume is approximately 100,000.

You’ll be joining a group of six neurosurgeons and have access to 12 operating rooms with Epic as the EMR. Typical responsibilities include emergency and urgent neurotrauma care as well as routine neurosurgical procedures, for example:

• Spinal instrumentation, discectomy, laminectomy, fusion, and spine stabilization/reconstruction
• Cranial tumor resections, hemorrhage control, and trauma repairs
• Shunt insertions/revisions (ventriculoperitoneal shunts), taps, reprogramming, and external ventricular drain management
• Placement of intracranial pressure monitors, burr holes, ventricular taps, CSF sampling, and lumbar drains
• Management of intracranial hemorrhage, traumatic brain injury, and other neurocritical conditions (including hypothermia protocols)
• Placement of arterial and venous access and administration of vasoactive and sedating medications
• EEG interpretation and monitoring of ICP/CPP data

Coverage includes travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance.

Required qualifications:

• Active Colorado medical license
• Board certified in neurosurgery
• BLS, ACLS, and ATLS current
• Clean professional record
• COVID-19 vaccination
