Rate: Local $1,145 / 36 hours

Requirements

  • Active, valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license for the state of New Mexico
  • BLS certification

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care under RN or physician direction, including medication administration, wound care, and vital sign monitoring.
  • Perform patient assessments (physical exam, history, medication review) and contribute to individualized care plans.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately and per protocol.
  • Assess, clean, dress, and manage wounds and incisions; monitor for infection and complications.
  • Monitor and document vital signs (BP, pulse, temperature, respiration) and changes in patient condition.
  • Maintain accurate, timely patient records of assessments, treatments, and medication administration.
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, self-care, and preventive health measures.
  • Administer and manage IV medications and fluids; ensure proper IV line insertion/function and monitor for complications.
  • Care for patients with urinary catheters (insertion, maintenance, monitoring).
  • Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for laboratory testing.
  • Collaborate with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate patient care.
  • Address patient comfort and safety needs (positioning, mobility assistance, pain management).
  • Respond to medical emergencies per facility protocols and provide basic life support as needed.
  • Follow infection control practices, including hand hygiene and proper use of PPE.
  • Handle, store, and dispose of medications and supplies safely and in compliance with regulations.
  • Advocate for patient rights and needs within the healthcare team.
  • Participate in ongoing education to stay current with nursing standards and regulations.
  • Supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
