Position Overview
The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) will provide comprehensive, high-quality healthcare services to pediatric patients within an Indian Health Service (IHS) facility. This is a non-personal services contract role, meaning the provider will function as an independent contractor, exercising full clinical judgment in patient care delivery.
The PNP will support the mission of IHS by delivering culturally competent care to underserved populations, ensuring continuity, quality, and patient-centered outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct primary and acute care services to pediatric patients (infants, children, and adolescents)
- Conduct patient assessments, diagnose conditions, and develop treatment plans
- Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with scope of practice and DEA authorization
- Perform routine wellness exams, immunizations, and preventive care
- Manage chronic conditions and coordinate specialty referrals as needed
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to clinical protocols and standards
- Ensure compliance with all federal, IHS, and facility-specific policies and procedures

Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing (Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program)
- Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in any U.S. state
- Board Certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
- Valid DEA license
- Minimum of 1–2 years of recent clinical experience in pediatric care (IHS or underserved setting preferred)
Certifications Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Highly Preferred:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)
Work Schedule
- 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday 8am-5pm (possible more, depending needs)
- Federal holidays closed
