Locums Hospitalist Medicine Physician

We are seeking a Locums Hospitalist Medicine Physician to provide inpatient coverage in Sarasota, FL. This opportunity is ideal for an Internal Medicine or experienced Family Medicine physician who is comfortable managing a moderate inpatient census in a collaborative hospital environment.

Schedule & Coverage

• Approximately 14–17 shifts per month, depending on month length and scheduling configuration
• Full-time schedule follows a 7 on / 7 off rotation (Monday–Sunday)
• Flexible scheduling options may be available

Practice Details

• Average patient census: 14–20 patients per day
• No procedures required
• Open ICU: Intensivists manage the ICU; hospitalists round on patients
• Code Response:
• Residents and dedicated code teams lead responses
• Hospitalist on call participates as part of the code team and provides support as needed

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive inpatient care for adult hospitalized patients
• Conduct daily rounds, admissions, and discharges
• Manage acute and chronic medical conditions in a hospital setting
• Collaborate with specialists, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams
• Respond to changes in patient status and provide timely interventions
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the EMR system
• Participate in care coordination and discharge planning

Requirements

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine
• Family Medicine physicians accepted with 1–2 years of hospitalist experience
• Active Florida medical license required
• Active DEA registration required
• Comfortable managing 14–20 patients per day
• Meditech EMR experience preferred
