Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Locums Neurosurgery Physician to provide weekend call coverage at a high-acuity Level I Trauma Center in Colorado Springs, CO. This is an excellent opportunity for a board-certified neurosurgeon comfortable managing complex trauma, cranial, and spine cases in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation: $3800 Per Day
Position Details:
- Schedule: Weekend call coverage
- Shift: Friday 7:00 AM – Monday 7:00 AM
- Start: ASAP
- Frequency: Every weekend required
- Practice Setting: Level I Trauma Center
- EMR: Epic
- OR Capacity: 12 operating rooms
- Neurosurgery Group: 6 neurosurgeons in practice
- Patient Population: Ages 17 and older
Clinical Environment:
- Annual ER volume exceeding 100,000 visits
- High-volume trauma and neurosurgical service line
- Multidisciplinary neurocritical care support
Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive neurosurgical call coverage including adult and trauma neurosurgery cases such as:
- Brain and spinal trauma management
- Tumor resections
- Intracranial hemorrhage control
- Ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt placement, revision, and management
- Cranial burr holes and intracranial pressure (ICP) monitor placement
- Ventriculostomy and external ventricular drain (EVD) management
- Diskectomy, laminectomy, spinal fusion, and spinal stabilization procedures
- Neurocritical care management including TBI and intracranial pressure monitoring
- Lumbar puncture and lumbar drain placement
- EEG interpretation and neurophysiologic data review
- Administration and management of vasoactive/sedating medications in critical care settings
- Placement of arterial and venous access
Requirements:
- Board Certified in Neurosurgery
- Active Colorado medical license required
- ACLS certification required
- BLS certification required
- ATLS certification required
