Requirements
- Active, valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) state license
- BLS certification
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care under RN/physician direction: administer medications, perform wound care, monitor and document vital signs.
- Conduct patient assessments (physical exam, medical history, medication review) and contribute to individualized care plans.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately, following protocols and ensuring correct dosing.
- Evaluate, clean, dress, and monitor wounds, incisions, and injuries for infection or complications.
- Record and maintain accurate patient documentation: condition changes, treatments, medication administration.
- Educate patients and families on conditions, medications, self-care, and preventive health measures.
- Administer and monitor IV medications and fluids; ensure proper IV line insertion and function.
- Provide catheter care (insertion, maintenance, monitoring) and collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for labs.
- Assist with patient comfort and safety: positioning, mobility support, and pain management.
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide basic life support per protocol.
- Follow infection control practices, including hand hygiene and PPE use.
- Safely handle, store, and dispose of medications and medical supplies per regulations.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team (RNs, physicians, therapists, support staff) to coordinate care.
- Advocate for patient rights and needs within the healthcare system.
- Maintain current knowledge of nursing best practices and participate in ongoing education.
- May supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
