Overview

  • Contract forensic pathology position supporting FBI Critical Incident Response Group (CIRG) and Behavioral Analysis Units (BAUs) in Washington, DC.
  • Coverage: Clinical and consultative services to FBI offices and medical examiner facilities.
  • Coverage period: Beginning May 15, 2026 – ongoing.
  • FTE: Approximately 0.5 FTE (≈960 hours/year).
  • Typical shift window: 06:00–18:00; core hours 09:00–15:00.

Primary duties

  • Provide forensic pathology consultation and case review for child and adult death investigations.
  • Perform clinical pathology analyses and prepare written reports.
  • Serve as an expert reviewer and present findings to investigative teams.
  • Collaborate directly with FBI CIRG and BAU personnel and support national investigations as required.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and professional standards.

Required procedures/skills

  • Conduct pediatric and adult forensic death investigations.
  • Provide forensic and clinical pathology consultation and expert testimony as needed.
  • Strong written communication, presentation, interpersonal, and consultative skills.
  • Ability to support federal investigative operations and travel nationally when required.

Minimum qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted U.S. medical license.
  • Board certified in Forensic Pathology and Anatomic Pathology.
  • Completion of pathology residency; fellowship documentation if applicable.
  • Minimum 10 years forensic pathology experience.
  • Eligible to pass a federal background investigation; travel-ready.
  • DEA registration if applicable.
