Locum Tenens Emergency Medicine Physician — Abbeville, LA (1218 Month Hospital Coverage)

Join a hospital team in Abbeville, LA, as a locum tenens emergency medicine physician covering a 12–18 month engagement starting ASAP. You’ll work in a busy ED that sees all ages (about 45 patients/day) with roughly a 8% admission rate and a general emergency medicine case mix.

Schedule and Setting

• Hospital-based clinical coverage only
• Shift patterns: 6:00 AM–6:00 PM and 6:00 PM–6:00 AM
• ED staffing: 7 ED beds and 3 fast-track beds
• EMR: Cerner Community Works
• Standard ED equipment and NP/PA support available
• Specialty backup: Cardiology, GI, Oncology, Podiatry, Surgery

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide full emergency department coverage and manage patient flow
• Evaluate and treat acute and critically ill patients, including moderate sedation and critical care management
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and specialty services
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and required case logs

Qualifications & Compliance

• Active Louisiana medical license, DEA, and CDS required
• Board-certified or board-eligible in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine with EM experience; residency-trained in EM/FM/IM required
• Required certifications: ACLS, ATLS, PALS (unless ABEM-certified)
• Clean file required for temporary privileges; hospital privileges required (temporary privileges available)
• Credentialing timeline: approximately 60–90 days
• LA Physician’s Clinic Fee (PCF), CME, and case logs required
