Join a busy cardiac surgery team in Loveland, CO as a Locum Tenens PA supporting both inpatient and outpatient care. This is a full-time clinical role with a call component, starting Sep 1 and continuing on an ongoing basis to provide supplemental coverage for the cardiac surgery service.

Schedule and Coverage

• Typical schedule: four 10-hour shifts per week (full time)
• Call: one night per week and one weekend per month
• Coverage type: clinical duties plus call
• Patient load: ~7–8 patients per day; expect 1–3 surgeries per day
• Patient population: adults only

Clinical Responsibilities

• Serve as OR first assist for cardiac surgery procedures
• Provide perioperative management in both the OR and inpatient/outpatient settings
• Work within a team that includes 5 physicians (including thoracic surgeons) and multiple mid-levels across ORFA, ICU, floor, and clinic

Required Skills & Procedures

• Proficiency across cardiac surgeries including CABG (with EVH and endoscopic radial harvesting), valve repair and replacement, structural heart procedures, and aortic surgery
• Comfort with general CV/thoracic procedures (open and endoscopic), congenital defect repairs (ASD, VSD, PFO), aneurysm repair (including aorto-thoracic), lung resections (including VATS), chest wall/pleural procedures, esophageal and diaphragm surgeries, and LVAD cases
• Must be able to insert and remove arterial lines

Facility & Systems

• Hospital: 300 beds with a 12-bed CICU; Level I trauma center
• EMR: Epic
• Onsite lab and x-ray available
• Only cardiac surgery coverage is needed (no vascular coverage)
• Central referral system routes calls to physician providers rather than APPs
• Hospital privileges required

Logistics & Support

• Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are provided by the facility

Minimum Requirements

• Active Colorado medical license
• Board certified
• BLS certification
• Minimum 6 months relevant experience
• Ability to insert/remove arterial lines (required)
• COVID vaccination required
• NPDB report required
