Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide in-person consults, procedures, and follow-up visits as scheduled.
• Respond to trauma and perform hand-related procedures and traumatic hand reconstruction.
• Perform general plastic surgery procedures as needed: facial laceration repair, scar revisions, skin grafts, flaps, and minor burn care.
• Supported by Trauma Clinic; trauma team will assist with rounding and support procedural needs.
• Clinic duties only as needed.
• No dedicated additional support staff.

Call

• 24-hour call; shifts 7a–7a.
• Approximately 10 call days/month.
• Call coverage: trauma.
• Call ratio: negotiable.

Patient Population & Volume

• Patients age 15 years and older.
• Typical patient volume: ~4 (follow-ups only).
• Case volume: 1/month normally; up to 3/month in summer.
• Hospital ED annual volume: 90,000.

Existing Coverage

• 1 hand-focused physician in practice
• 1 community plastics provider
• 2 hospital-employed orthopedic hand surgeons

Requirements

• Active Michigan medical license or willingness to obtain.
• Board certification in Orthopedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, or General Surgery.
• BLS required; ACLS highly preferred.
• Self-query NPDB report within the month.
