Schedule and Call

  • Clinical: Inpatient rounding as required during call coverage; no elective cases.
  • Call: 24-hour weekend hospital/ER call shifts (Friday 7:00 AM – Monday 7:00 AM).
  • Call ratio and response time: TBD.

Patient Population and Clinical Scope

  • Adult and pediatric urology consults.
  • Admissions and inpatient rounding included with call.
  • Phone consults expected.
  • General urology: kidney, bladder, ureter, urethra.
  • Must be comfortable with complex and difficult catheter placements.

Facility and Support

  • Hospital: 220+ beds; Level III Trauma Center.
  • Standard urology surgical and diagnostic equipment; robotic capability available.
  • Full specialty backup and hospital clinical/surgical support staff.

Privileges, Credentialing, Compliance

  • Hospital privileges required; temporary privileges not available.
  • Credentialing timeline: ~60–90 days.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance covered.

Required Procedures (expected)

  • General adult urology procedures and pediatric consults
  • Ureteroscopy; nephrectomy; adrenalectomy
  • Robotic and laparoscopic urologic surgeries
  • Percutaneous nephrolithotomy; ESWL
  • Renal and bladder ultrasound and biopsy
  • Incontinence procedures

Preferred (non-mandatory) Procedures

  • Prostatectomy (including radical)
  • Radical cystectomy with ileal conduit
  • Penile prosthesis
  • Renal transplant surgery

Provider Requirements

  • Indiana medical license or IMLC eligibility.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Urology (certification required within 5 years of residency).
  • Active DEA registration.
  • BLS (AHA) required; ACLS (AHA) required if requesting conscious sedation privileges.
  • Minimum 2 years of urology experience.
  • Vaccinations: flu and COVID required unless approved exemption.

Duties

  • Provide inpatient urology care and weekend hospital/ER call coverage.
  • Perform inpatient rounding during call shifts.
  • Manage general urology cases, including difficult catheterizations.
  • Perform diagnostic and surgical procedures as required.
  • Coordinate care with hospital staff and specialists.
  • Enter orders and maintain documentation in Epic.
