Join a cardiothoracic surgery team in Memphis, TN, as a locum tenens Physician Assistant supporting inpatient cardiac surgery services. This role provides supplemental clinical coverage with assigned patient rounding and in-house 24-hour call (1:5 call ratio). Coverage is needed ASAP through August 31, 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Provide pre- and post-operative care in the CV ICU and inpatient wards
• Assist as first assist in cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures, including sternotomy closure and endoscopic radial artery harvesting
• Perform procedures such as chest tube placement, arterial/venous sheath placement, central venous line placement, and saphenous/femoral artery (SFA) work when indicated
• Manage critical care patients and support device-related care (e.g., Impella)
• Handle phone consults and admissions consistent with expected patient volumes

Typical workload and support

• Patient volume: ~10 patients/day; admissions: ~3/day; phone consults: ~10/day; callback rate: 5%
• Support staff: 2 RNs, 1 PA/NP, 1 MA
• EMR: Cerner
• Hospital is stroke-certified
• Temporary privileges available; travel, lodging, and malpractice coverage provided

Requirements

• Active Tennessee license
• Board Certified (BC)
• ACLS certification
• Prior experience in saphenous/vein (SV) harvest and first assist required
